Wednesday, October 15, 2003I swear to God this happenedDuring Sen. John Edwards' Townhall at the Top of the Hop in the Hopkins Center last night, he was asked a question about his stance on abortion. Edwards said he's pro-choice and that in fact he's one of the few Senators even in his own party to vote against the ban on partial-birth abortions because the act didn't include an exception clause for health-of-the mother. Right after he said this a baby, either in the audience or a floor below (hard to pinpoint the location), started crying. People reacted awkwardly; some laughed, some gasped, some just froze. Edwards kind of grinned, recognizing the irony and how bad it made his position seem even to supporters for a moment.Posted by alex at 9:20 AM Comments Post a Comment (we enforce our comments policy) |
