Thursday, January 16, 2003Dartmouth forges tie with #5 UNHIn front of a sold-out crowd of 10,104 mostly hostile fans, Dartmouth forged a 1-1 tie with #5 New Hampshire at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH. Perhaps 1,000 fans made the trek from Hanover, and they were rewarded with an outstanding effort by sophomore netminder Dan Yacey, who stopped 34 of 35 Wildcat shots while making his first start of the season. Dartmouth's lone goal was scored by sophomore Nathan Szymanski, the first of his career. Both teams had numerous chances late in the third and in OT, but both goalies made spectacular saves to keep the game knotted at 1.Dartmouth (9-6-1, 5-4-0) finished its non-conference schedule with a 4-2-1 record. They return to action Saturday at Thompson Arena against Vermont. The game will likely sell-out, so students are encouraged to arrive before the first puck dropped to avoid having people with standing room only tickets confiscate the student sections as their own.
