Tuesday, November 26, 2002RolloIt seems you're wrong. While 33% of the world -- just over 2 billion people -- is Christian, 20% -- or 1.2 billion -- is Muslim. Catholics account for 17.4%, or about 1.044 billion -- a small but significant difference of 156 million.However... If 85% of the world's Muslims are Sunni (and I think that figure is right), then 1.02 billion people are Sunni Muslims. This puts Catholics over the top by 24 million, as the single largest denomination in the world!
