Friday, October 25, 2002Bellesiles Resigns![]() Here is the announcement, here (in PDF) is the rather damning independent committee report that prompted his the resignation, and here is a brief summary of the report. The committee found Bellesiles to be "guilty of unprofessional and misleading work" for statistical research that was published in his book The Arming of America, in which he argued against early-American gun-ownership and, by extension, traditional interpretations of the Second Amendment.
