Thursday, April 04, 2002In the D: A nearly thoughtful op-ed on Israel: "Why Israel is Important." Sure, it's not entirely accurate ("Every past nationalist political movement, no matter how desperate, has somehow managed to fulfill its aims without resorting to suicidal tactics."), but it's nice to see coherency and less shaky moral relativism that usual.Daily Dartmouth editors may also appreciate this advice: Any op-ed that has a sentence like "Surprisingly, however, I was not nearly as lethargic as I imagined" towards its beginning will inevitably have one like "Doing my best imitation of a paramecium, I temporarily lay motionless on the ledge, with the exception of my flagellate arm hairs that stood straight on end" towards its conclusion. Both, of course, should be cut (along with much in between). After all, we don't want the world to think that every Dartmouth student spends his days flipping through Roget's...
